Where work and play can coexist
Randy recently took delivery of Sandbox, his second Advanced RV. His first, Kelvin, carried him through deserts and mountains – months on the road with camera gear, bikes, and work in tow. Sandbox grows directly out of that lived experience.
With Sandbox, Randy moved to a lighter, single-rear-wheel Sprinter better suited to the desert terrain he loves. He also rethought the bathroom: instead of a fully enclosed space, he created a flexible area behind the driver’s seat that works as a desk, a shower with a curtain, and storage for a portable toilet. The result is more counter space and a layout that stays adaptable.
The name Sandbox came from a moment in Kelvin. Randy was camped in the desert when the wind picked up. He stepped out the slider door to organize gear – no problem. Then he made one critical mistake: he opened the rear doors too. In an instant, Kelvin became a wind tunnel, and the desert turned it into a sandbox.
These days, Sandbox stays a little cleaner. Randy’s advice hasn’t changed:
One door at a time.
We wish Randy happy travels. We only request that he sends us more photography like this from his adventures.
