A smooth ride feels good. That part is obvious. Roads are quieter. Conversations are easier. The view through the windshield stays steady.
But comfort is only part of the story. In a handcrafted Class B motorhome, ride quality also helps protect what you’ve invested in: cabinetry, wiring, plumbing lines, hardware, and systems that will live through years of vibration. The less your coach shakes, the longer everything can stay tight, quiet, and reliable.
That’s why many Advanced RV clients choose VB Air Suspension. We’ve been installing it since our first builds in 2012, after Mike discovered the system on a trip to Europe and helped bring it to the U.S.
What We Change
On Mercedes-Benz Sprinter-based builds, we replace key parts of the stock rear suspension:
- Stock leaf springs
- Stock rear shocks
- Stock rear anti-sway bar
VB’s system replaces these with airbags, computer control, and matched shock absorbers designed to work together.

How It Works
VB Air Suspension uses two heavy-duty airbags at the rear, fed by an onboard compressor. A control module automatically adjusts pressure based on load, helping the coach maintain proper ride height as tanks fill, gear changes, or passengers come and go.
The result:
- Less up-and-down bounce on rough roads
Less side-to-side sway in crosswinds and corners
A steadier platform for the living space over the long haul
How Often You’ll Use the Controls
Most owners rarely touch it. The system does its work in the background.
We install a small, wired handheld controller, often mounted behind the driver’s seat, so you can make manual adjustments in special situations such as sand, mud, or certain service needs.
If a shop is servicing your vehicle, let them know it has air suspension and where the controller is located. And as always, our service team is a phone call away.

A Note on Front-End Stance
On two-wheel-drive Sprinters, we often add a subtle front-end lift to even out the vehicle’s stance. All-wheel-drive Sprinters do not typically need this.
What About Ford Transit Builds?
We’re now building on the Ford Transit as well. At this time, we do not offer this same air suspension upgrade on the Transit platform. For many Transit builds, that can be a welcome way to reduce cost while still delivering a coach engineered for comfort, serviceability, and long-term use.
